I'm in the middle of a love affair with Sailor's pens. I'm not and have never been a huge fan of cigar-shaped pens, nor do I lose my mind over pens that take cartridge-converters. That said, for whatever reason, I can't get enough of this pen.
I went into this pen thinking I'd hate it. The color seemed ridiculous and it almost looked like a joke when I saw it for the first time online. I went down to Fountain Pen Hospital to take a look and was fairly disinterested at first glance. Jimmy (if you've been to FPH, you know Jimmy) pulled it out and said, "Well, I know this isn't your kind of pen, so I dunno if you'll really be into it, but here you go." The more I looked at it, the more I couldn't let go, and now it's one of my favorite daily writers.
Nicely balanced with a great weight, the pen is great for everyday use. Add the bright orange color (the COLOR!) and that amazing Sailor nib along with rhodium plated furniture and this is a real standout right out of left field.
Unfortunately, during photography, this poor nib suffered a tragic demise and will need to be sent out for repair. It rolled right off the light table and, as they always tend to, landed right on the nib. As such, it will be shuffled out of my rotation for a few weeks while it's being returned to its former glory. I'll be waiting with bated breath for its return. You can see a photo of the carnage below.
